Okay, Then.

Conversation overheard in the Student Union:

Student #1: I hate English with a fiery Passion from the fiery depth of Hades, do you understand? I hate, hate, hate, hate it.

Student #2: I love English. I just hate these English teachers here.

English - it is an interesting thing, both the language and its structure. And so complex it is no wonder that so many have a hard time with it.

I could never (even today) diagram a sentence, and spelling has always been a challenge. But it all changed when we got to English Lit. The stories converted me (although much poetry still gives me a pain).

I don't understand why they hate English so badly, yet they will be the first to vote for the English Only movement.

Zelda: ha!

Delagar: I love student evaluations. I overheard this one today from our secretary, on a last semester evaluation: "The teacher had a good misdemeanor."

Omg, that's awesome.

sugared harpy: depending on what time of the semester it was, and on how drunk the teacher had to get just to keep from slitting his or her wrists, "misdemeanor" may not have actually been a word choice error....i know i get in the mood for a few good misdemeanors around this time of the year....

dela: well, overhearing this convo is actually a good thing, since you can always chalk up any negative student evals to the precious little daddy's fucktard prince/princess coming in with a pre-existing state of "i hate your guts just because you're here and i'm me". that's what i'm going to try to convince myself of, at any rate.
