Winter is Coming my ass

 

Heat index of 98 today, and more tomorrow. I keep checking the weather report the way some people keep looking in the refrigerator, like something is going to change.

Please no more summer.

I have to say, right now it is quite lovely. I even opened the door to my home office. Hard to believe it's going to get into the mid-90s today. I'm pretty sure that means fall has arrived in the South -- when it's not impossibly hot even though the sun just came up.

It's SO HOT here. Even at dawn, it's still in the seventies.

Huh. You must have less humidity than we do. 70s here is miserable.

Nope! We're plenty humid (especially now with rain that poor California should probably be getting). Mid-70s at dawn is delightful compared to mid 80s or higher at dawn with the same humidity. Yesterday morning the entire neighborhood was out enjoying the change. (Without masks, of course.)

And my crazy Southerner kids are wearing pants or long sleeve shirts today. (This northerner is still in shorts and tshirts.)

Ha! And when winter does come, if they're anything like my students, they'll be wearing shorts.
