WTAF?

Have another look at my kid's new kitchen:

Do you see what's missing?

Kitchen drawers.

Who the hell designs a kitchen and leaves out kitchen drawers?

Someone who only eats with their hands? How bizarre! I guess a kitchen caddy on the counter with silverware standing up?

I've seen the opposite-- no cupboards, only drawers, from Young House Love and I hate that too.

Ha!

My husband redid his kitchen in his single-guy house and accidentally put things together in such a way that you couldn't have certain things open at the same time. It was good-looking when everything was clean and closed, but a pain in the neck for putting things away. He didn't mind so much, mostly because he just pulled plates/utensils from the dishwasher as he used them and piled everything in the sink until it was time to reload again. (It was, um. Not the way I managed my single-person home. Worked for him, but not very tidy to the eye most of the time.)

Yeah, we're going to look for a silverware caddy and maybe a thing to keep utensils in this weekend. But wow.

No cupboards would be worse, I think. At least they can put the caddy or whatever in one of the cupboards if they want.

I was so amazed that people that age could have an apartment with all those new-looking appliances and cupboards that I didn't notice the absence of drawers.

Yeah, that's how it is with apartments, at least in that town -- the complex "gives" you shiny appliances, but hikes up the rent, so that really you're renting them. This apartment does have much better appliances than their previous one, where half the burners on the stove did not work.

My apartment, which I rented in the 1990s in the same town, had nothing but a stove, but the rent was only $200 a month.
