Supply Line Problems

The store had three pints of cream on the shelf when I arrived yesterday. I am ashamed to admit that I bought two.

Still no bread flour and no decent bread. The chip aisle, I noted in passing, is decimated.

Organic veggies are still cheaper and in better shape than the non-organic. (I bought carrots.) Why would this be? Are organics locally sourced, maybe?

The storm has been over for days. What gives?

Do they have vital gluten? You can make your own bread flour.

Here's an internet recipe:
Measure out 1 cup all-purpose flour (4 1/2 ounces or 129 grams).
Remove 1 1/2 teaspoons (1/8 ounce or 4 grams).
Add 1 1/2 teaspoons of vital wheat gluten (1/8 ounce or 5 grams).
Whisk or sift to combine.

Its a bit pricey by itself, but a little goes a long way. Generally you can also just substitute time and kneading for bread flour.

Re Walmart-- I wanted to say this earlier but I was traveling. We always order for pickup. Much much less unpleasant and I don’t think it costs anymore. You just go into the service desk and pick up.

Our WalMart has pickup, too. I'll have to try it.
