I will probably about $100 or $150 in holiday gifts from various relatives. What should I spend it on?
(1) A Roomba. The cheapest ones are around $200, so I'd have to put some non-gift money into that. Do I really need a Roomba? I have a broom, after all.
(2) A Kindle. My ancient iPad died, so if I want to read e-books, I have to do it on my laptop. Kindles are well within the $150 I might have.
(3) Shoes. Do I need new shoes? I already have three pairs, one for commencement ceremonies, one for snow, and one for everyday. Who needs more than three pairs of shoes? I only have two feet.
(4) More books. I always need more books.
(5) Save it for emergencies. God knows one will be along any moment.

I vote kindle! Then you can get all the books for it. Two items in one - three if you have leftover money to set aside for emergencies.
How is this even a question? You need a replacement kindle so you can read electronic library books. If you get a fire instead of a regular kind (like the paperwhite or whatever else they're calling the ones that are more like books than tablets), save the rest for emergencies (because there are always emergencies).
Also: there will be insane kindle sales sometime this holiday season because there always are. Make sure you get it at a discount (apparently not today) or else wait until valentine's day or mother's day discounts.
The kids fire kindle packages are usually good deals if you're likely to ever drop your kindle (even though you're not a kid) because the bundle is usually at a good discount for what you get compared to buying the protective foam cover separately. Though I much prefer the regular kindle to the fire version because I don't want to be able to play games and the regular kindle doesn't really need a protective cover unless you plan to step on it (like DH did to my first kindle).
You don't need a roomba-- cleanliness is overrated and cleaning a roomba is almost as much of a pain as just not using it. If your shoes aren't worn down you don't need more than three pairs. You DO need library books. It will SAVE money in the long-run, allowing you more money for paper books and emergencies later. (Disclaimer: I am not a financial planner, do your own research before making life-altering financial decisions.) (But also: Library books are FREE. Gutenberg books are FREE.)

Oh…I would go with the Roomba, mostly because the most limited and valuable thing in my life right now is my own time. The robot vacuum gives me 10-15 min back per room, which adds up. But I have a kid who tracks in sand, drops crumbs of everything daily, and does made-up craft things that litter tiny scraps of paper on the floor. My house needs a daily reset for my sanity.
With a less messy life, I would go with the Kindle.
I've been wanting a Roomba for about a year, but idk if I can justify it -- we have a tiny house, and while it is true my cats shed like crazy, that sweeps up pretty easily.
I hate to be the dissenter concerning the Roomba. If your cats were to regurgitate (like a hairball), the Roomba would smear the mess around and/or might become damaged.
Ugh! Yeah, that would be a definite negative.
We have one. WE NEVER USE IT. Seriously, cleaning it is a PITA. Unless the newer models have figured out how to deal with hair in the bristles. It looks like they do have some without bristles now: https://www.bustle.com/life/best-robot-vacuums-for-long-hair
