Ooh, that Fox News guy has an excellent point about danger to teachers from firearms within schools. Let's start by nationwide bans on automatic and semi-automatic etc. weapons outside of licensed firing ranges, and nationwide requirements for background checks and training prior to using a gun.
I saw discussion of this elsewhere pointing out that certain red states (mine among them) have much higher murder rates and gun death rates than Chicago or Illinois in general. This isn't about data, though, of course. It's about how a certain segment of our population wants to believe black people are dangerous. Hence their hysteria about the Black Lives Matter movement.
Yes, I'm aware, but I like taking their veiled racist arguments to their logical conclusions in favor of gun control.
Sorry, I knew you knew! I was just grumbling.
My suspicion: They focused on Chicago because Obama lives there.
Now, Chicago had more homicides last year than any other U.S. city. My mother couldn't understand how Philadelphia could have a higher murder rate than Chicago when Chicago had more murders. She's unclear on what per capita means, as she once said (regarding health care costs) "One person's per capita may be different than another person's per capita." I wonder how many people are like her.
The U.S. city with the highest homicide rate last year was . . . Jackson, Mississippi. As the unofficial state motto of Arkansas says, "Thank God for Mississippi."
