I've hit a run of mediocre books. Not actively bad -- I kind of like really bad books, because it can be fascinating to watch them trainwreck.
These are just books that could have worked if the writer had done this or that, but instead they decided to maunder on about some point or plot turn that doesn't matter, or describe something incoherently.
It's kind of depressing. I really need a good book to read. Where is the universe hiding them?

The Tainted Cup? That was really good; I bet you'd like it.
I have that one on hold at the library! Fingers crossed.
I've got the second checked out right now! Also I've been reading Jordon L Hawke's second Widdershins series because the first one was free for ebook (I bought it from Kindle). If you like m/m lovecraftian stuff that series and the Whyborne and Griffin series (which is more likely to be available from your library) are both great. I've actually had a surfeit of good books recently. And I picked up an old Jeeves and Wooster- Wodehouse is just such a delicious writer.
I should get around to reading Jeeves and Wooster.
It’s even better now that I have Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry in my head doing the voices. Well worth watching. But the prose is amazing.
