What was the first Internet community you were part of? Bonus points if you can pin down the year.

Mine was some history chat line -- I can't remember the name, but I had a book reveiw published with them. H-Net? Is that right? That would have been around 1998.
Then when the kid was little I used to post on another forum, Mothers Who Think. That would have been 1999/2000? The kid was an infant and then a toddler. I remember asking for advice when he was late to walk, which was when he was 17 months old.
What about y'all?

High school network, early 1990s. We could message other people who were online at the same time we were via the command line.
My ex boyfriend showed me bulletin boards and things before that through dial-up, but I didn't have a computer at home so I couldn't participate myself. One of my roommates (not #2) did a lot of sexting with strangers on some IRC chat-room, but I also did not participate in that because I understood that there were probably pedophiles on the other end. I had a lot of friends who spent a lot of time on MUDs as well, but not me.
Bulletin boards! I'd forgotten bulletin boards.
