Oh, Laws

I don't know what's sadder here: that McCain ('s speechwriters) plagiarized his speech; that it was plagiarized from Wikipedia; or that most of the tools commenting on this site don't seem to know what plagiarism is -- they seem to think it's something like "stealing facts."

It's no wonder our students don't know what plagiarism is - neither does 7/10ths of the country, apparently.

Completely off topic (and snarky and not at all nice): am I the only one that keeps waiting for a demonic King George to pop out of McCain's left cheek jowl? I'm just saying...

No, they have no clue. Yes, that's it, they think it's "stealing facts" instead of giving proper credit. They also don't get, you know, that I expect them to think about it before using the information instead of parroting.

And ohmylands, WIKIPEDIA?

I think that's my favorite part -- that McCain's staff is so off the map about the internets that (a) they don't realize half the country will recognize a Wikipedia article when they hear it parroted back to them and (b) that's the *best* source they can find (no doubt it kept coming up on The Google).
