I don't know what's sadder
here: that McCain ('s speechwriters) plagiarized his speech; that it was plagiarized from
Wikipedia; or that most of the tools commenting on
this site don't seem to know what plagiarism is -- they seem to think it's something like "stealing facts."
It's no wonder our students don't know what plagiarism is - neither does 7/10ths of the country, apparently.

No, they have no clue. Yes, that's it, they think it's "stealing facts" instead of giving proper credit. They also don't get, you know, that I expect them to think about it before using the information instead of parroting.
And ohmylands, WIKIPEDIA?
I think that's my favorite part -- that McCain's staff is so off the map about the internets that (a) they don't realize half the country will recognize a Wikipedia article when they hear it parroted back to them and (b) that's the *best* source they can find (no doubt it kept coming up on The Google).
