This is Grim

All those people who threw endless tantrums over Obama not being an American citizen, because his father came from Kenya, are now perfectly find with Leon Skum dismantling the country to fill his own pockets.

Everyone who wailed about liberals being anti-Christian are fine with this current government attacking Christian churches because a pastor spoke out against Trump.

Everyone who insisted that ten year olds were old enough to bear children and fifteen year olds were old enough to be tried as adults are now happily redefining 19 year olds as children.

Honestly, I feel powerless. The GOP and today's conservatives are fine with all this. The rule of law is whatever Trump says it is. Or rather, whatever Leon says it is.

What am I, with my tiny little blog, supposed to do?

Do what you can do, I tell my kid, but honestly, what can we do?

Indivisible suggests going to your senator's offices today. Failing that, calling your senators to vote No on Russell Vought, RFKjr, and Tulsi Gabbard.

I think the big thing is that we cannot give up hope, because when we give up hope, fascism comes that much faster.

Another little thing I did today was order a book from our local Barnes and Noble and let them know DC2's class was requiring it and had provided an amazon link. They're ordering a few extra copies in case other classmates want to buy local. Bezos does not need more of our money.

We called our senators. I like buying from local bookstores.

It's really hard to hold onto hope at this point.

Can I recommend Bree (half of kit rocha)'s bluesky account? I think it's the perfect mix of (bad) news, fighting, and whimsical beauty. https://bsky.app/profile/mostlybree.kitrocha.com

Honestly, any effective action is going to take place way over your and my pay grade. Marches and protests do nothing; the powers that be have priced them in already and know perfectly well how to ignore them. This time, they’re going to get targeted by the dirtbag fight club militias to boot. I think individuals’ ability to hit pain points is only with their friends and family that voted for this. That isn’t going to be a pleasant (or for many, even possible) process, but without a tangible and immediate personal cost, they’re just playing with house money and they’ll find a way to blame whatever Trump disaster blows back on them on the Democrats anyhow.
