(1) Will the movers actually show up?
(2) What about the cats, will they escape during the move? Will they escape AFTER we move?
(3) Which should I use to pay the down payment, a cashier's check or a wire transfer?
(4) What if I get a cashier's check and lose it? Or what if I get a wire transfer and I mess up the routing number and I send all my money to a guy in Toronto?
(5) What if I wait too long to get the cashier's check and then they can't get me one in time?
(6) What if the power company doesn't turn on the power?
(7) What if the gas company doesn't turn on the gas? It's going to be 24 degrees the night we move! I mean, that's if the movers show up at all.
(8) What if the movers don't bring our stuff to our new house? We'll lose all our stuff!
(9) What if the movers can't get into our drive to pick up the stuff from the old house? They're doing roadwork on our road, and also our driveway is long and tricky.
(10) What if this is all a big mistake and I shouldn't have bought a house and now I'm TRAPPED
I've decided to board the cats during the move, for what that's worth.

The wire transfer fear is real. I wired an entire house and I was insanely scared I was funding some strangers entire new lifestyle. Also, the fear of losing stuff. I made a spreadsheet with every box sticker, then I learned they didn't use all the stickers in the number range, which utterly freaked me out for a few months.
Insanely scared is exactly how I feel!
Fingers crossed! N&M
It's intense but tends to work out. I did cashiers check even though I had to drive 3 hours to my bank to get it -- because I was also terrified of wire transfer fraud. And then things got delayed and I had to be responsible for the check for weeks. So stressful. Good luck!
Oh my God. I would not have survived.
Consider rethinking the situation: You (and Dr. Skull) are the most important people right now to your real estate agent (if you used one), the sellers, and their agent (if they used one). They are rooting for you and want you to succeed.
I hope it all goes better than you expect!
I'd have gone positively insane trying to keep track of a large cashiers check! I'd probably gone even more insane if my closing was delayed by long enough to get neurotic about having the check sitting around.
