My Kid and HRT

So the kid has been on T for just over a month now.

All y'all who have been reading me for awhile know the kid has had issues with anxiety, depression, self-loathing, and worse for years -- since hitting puberty, in fact. (Which in retrospect should have been a clue.)

After one month on T, these symptoms have vanished. He sent me a message today saying, "WTF? I'm happy because I get to be alive. I'm HAPPY. Is this how cis people feel all the time?"

So yeah. If you're one of those ignorant potatoes who think trans people should have, I don't know what the fuck, more and more and yet more therapy to convince them they are actually cis people, you can fuck right off.

And when you get there, fuck off again.

I'm trying to get the kid to write something about this, and if he does, I'll post it here. But he's an art student, as he points out to me all the time, so maybe not.

My Kid Pre-Puberty -- That's some of his early art behind him

Support and appreciation.
I have always simply loved my children for being themselves. Makes so much in life so much simpler.

I'm so happy to hear the Kid's doing well! Alas, I don't think cis folks are always happy, but we all deserve some happiness sometimes!

(Reading this about your Kid has me smiling. I don't even know you or the Kid for real, but I still feel like a proud auntie or something--maybe the neighbor a block over who doesn't really know, but sees him about from a distance?-- for him.)

Love it when treating the underlying problem fixes all the symptoms!

I'm so glad things are working out. :)

Excellent news! Sounds like he's being reminded of what feeling good/normal feels like, which will still be useful even if some of the mental health issues still crop up at times. Also sounds like getting to be himself makes that less likely, which is a major positive (and yes, one of many good reasons for believing people when they tell us who they are, gender-identity-wise or otherwise. Besides, why not? Who's going to know better?)
