Give them money if you can -- they can do more with it than you can. But they'll take food as well.
I set up a monthly donation sometime ago, which I have just increased this month. It won't make up for what the Trump administration is doing, starving kids for political reasons, but it will help some.
If you're in Arkansas:
Usually there's a church somewhere also running a food bank. You know how I feel about religion, but if that's your pathway, take it.

I also donated to our state foodbank (a subsidiary of Feeding America/America's Food Bank). They organize large donations from farmers, large chains, etc. of their overstock and distribute them to smaller foodbanks. (They're the reason your local foodbank can get so many meals for small amounts of money.) -- n&m
I didn't know that!
I do (and will) donate to the local food bank, but I saw a large food bank director yesterday saying "For every meal we provide, SNAP provides ten." I think individuals can help, but we can't fix institutional negligence. That said, people shouldn't go hungry, so we do what we can.
Absolutely. Food banks cannot replace SNAP. Individuals or churches donating money or food (some of them, now and then) can't replace government aid.
I woke up at 3:30am and called my MOC (all Republican)... https://5calls.org/issue/wic-snap-benefits-goverment-shutdown/
Same here -- all GOP
