This is good advice for those of us who are feeling overwhelmed and hopeless while Trump attacks our families, destroys democracy, and does his best to destroy the world:

Still struggling. Can’t seem to find the right thing to do with the limited tools I have. Been trying to speak up as much as I can in spaces that seem annoyingly silent… I can’t believe I read blogs where they are planning cruises and other such summer things… are we living in the same country?? I’m so effing mad(and scared) Anon in Mass
It is hard to both protect yourself and your mental health *and* find effective ways to resist. There's a protest here today, for example, but I'm not going, mainly because too many people depend on me so I can't risk arrest. And yes, people acting like it's just another day in paradise, or worse, like Trump's actions are marvelous...UGH.
Absolutely agree. I have deeply limited my doomscrolling, have only done it once this weekend. During the week, I check on my Bsky account and spot the top rage item and put it on my action list, then contact my Senators while I'm working late. I'm infuriated, enraged, and heartbroken but I won't help them drive us to despair. I'm going to act in whatever limited way I can. This weekend is focused on sharing the info I have with people who are willing to act to make it easier for them to make their calls. I have shared with four different people and I hope they or someone they know will all act.

That sounds like a sensible and effective plan.
