I forgot to tell you about our TNXgiving! I know you want to know.
It was wonderful. Dr. Skull cooked, everything except the sweet potatoes, which I make every year, mystically creating my own recipe anew each time (this year it was vanilla, salt, ginger, cinnamon, and lots of clarified butter, they were perfect); and the stuffing and brussel sprouts, which Uncle Charger's sister made, also wonderful.
Art Boy and Musical Genius Girl also came -- we hadn't seen MGG in some time, since she got a scholarship to faraway U, so that was nice -- along with Uncle Charger's sister's huband, and Uncle Charger's mom. Dr. Skull made turkey and butternut squash soup, his lovely French bread, green bean casserole, two kinds of pie, and ginger ice cream. We drank I forget how many bottles of wine and talked until quite late at night.
We still have leftovers. Thanksgiving might be my favorite holiday!

Your T-Day dinner sounds great except for the brussels sprouts. Never could get into those. I'm sweet potatoes person in my family. I use cinnamon, nutmeg, a small handful of cloves, orange juice and orange zest, and candy them by boiling it all in mixed white and brown sugar. It's awesome. Never any leftovers. Loved talking to nieces and nephews. They are old enough to be interesting and fun now, and I really like them.
Hey, please help, writer friends! I have more than 12,000 good, multiply-edited words of a novel I've dabbled in here and there for a few years. The conflict that gets the action going is in place. I'm very proud of it and my husband (also a writer) is enthusiastic. I have the rest of the story plotted out, detailed character studies, and a Book #2 rough outlined. It's just a matter of typing up the rest of it. How many words/pages does a first novel need? I'm sure I can finish this now. It isn't autobiographical, btw. It's set in KC, in Westport. I'd appreciate all thoughts. I don't have a writer's group. I need one. Thank you!
