Congratulations! Good for the fan for writing. I once awkwardly approached Nicholson Baker at the main UC Berkeley library, just to say thanks for the books -- he seemed embarrassed, and in retrospect I think a fan letter would have expressed better what I meant to say.
I was astounded in turn to get an email of thanks from the greatest living poet in English (JH Prynne) for an amateurish interpretation of one of his poems I'd posted somewhere. I wish I still had it, or at least, like you, been wise enough to keep a printout.

That's terrific, Kelly! As a writer whose readers spontaneously created art for my stories, I know little that fires your engines more.
