You know how it is when there's no vaccine and no behavior-based methods of protecting oneself from a global pandemic. After all, masks don't work. And you certainly can't stay home or try to keep your distance from others: that would impinge on freedoms! Thank goodness there's a trustworthy, fact-checked, science-based news source that will help people know what to do in these situations.

ReplyDeleteIvermermectin is prescribed for humans for several parasitic diseases. In those cases, it is safe (although not without side effects, including sometimes serious ones, but then River Blindness, for which it is an appropriate treatment, is also serious). The problem comes when humans take horse-level doses. Then, it can really cause damage.
ReplyDeleteLimited trials with inadequate methodologies have actually indicated POSSIBLE beneficial effects of ivermectin on active COVID, in petri dishes. So, no, not a good idea to take this as a preventative and definitely if your source is a veterinary clinic!
As far as I can tell, the deaths reported were in Latin America.
